Rewriting Lyrics

I’ve noticed that enunciated lyrics plus great arrangement equals music with a clear message (they tend to be very catchy too, and usually improve retention of the content). You can see this with Jon Schaffer’s We the People as well as the Gianluca Zanna’s Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death. Perhaps it would be possible to rewrite some lyrics and then have a musician perform that piece? Obviously, such a project would be in accordance with Creative Commons, Fair Use, or something to that effect.

Take a listen to Malukah‘s “Age of Oppression.” Transcribed lyrics follow (any fault with the accuracy of the transcript lies with this humble blogger):

We drink to our youth
To the days come and gone
For the Age of Oppression is now nearly done
We’ll drive out the Empire from this land that we own
With our blood and our steel
We’ll take back our home

All hail to Aufrick
You are the high king!
In your great honor we drink and we sing
We are the children of Skyrim and we fight all our lives.
And when Sovergard beckons
Every one of us dies
But this land is ours and we’ll see it wiped clean
Of the scourge that has sullied our hopes and our dreams

All hail to Aufrick
You are the high king!
In your great honor we drink and we sing
We are the children of Skyrim and we fight all our lives.
And when Sovergard beckons
Every one of us dies

We drink to our youth
To the days come and gone
For the Age of Oppression is now nearly done

Now here is Malukah’s “Age of Aggression.” Transcribed lyrics follow (any fault with the accuracy of the transcript lies with this humble blogger):

We drink to our youth
To the days come and gone
For the Age of Aggression is just about done
We’ll drive out the Stormcloaks and restore what we own
With our blood and our steel
We will take back our home

Down with Aufrick
The killer of kings
On the day of your death we will drink and we’ll sing
We are the children of Skyrim and we fight all our lives.
And when Sovergard beckons
Every one of us dies
But this land is ours and we’ll see it wiped clean
Of the scourge that has sullied our hopes and our dreams

Down with Aufrick
The killer of kings
On the day of your death we will drink and we’ll sing
We are the children of Skyrim and we fight all our lives.
And when Sovergard beckons
Every one of us dies

We drink to our youth
To the days come and gone
For the Age of Aggression is just about done

Here are my rewritten lyrics, taken from a mixture of the two and substituting other words in:

The Age of Compulsion

We drink to our youth
To the days come and gone
For the Age of Compulsion is just about done
We’ll drive out the Empire and restore what we own
With our blood and our steel
We’ll take back our home

Down with Big Brother
The killer of kings
On the day of your death we will drink and we’ll sing
We are the children of America and we fight all our lives.
And when DHS beckons
Every one of us dies
But this land is ours and we’ll see it wiped clean
Of the scourge that has sullied our hopes and our dreams

Down with Big Brother
The killer of kings
On the day of your death we will drink and we’ll sing
We are the children of America and we fight all our lives.
And when DHS beckons
Every one of us dies

We drink to our youth
To the days come and gone
For the Age of Compulsion is just about done
